Let's be clear about something. The Irish Cottage Inn is a lovely Irish pub. The kind of place that does what it does very well.
What it does not do well is margaritas.
The first clue was the glass. And by glass, we mean mason jar. A mason jar with no salt rim.
The margarita was telling us everything we needed to know before we even took a sip. We didn't listen.
Tequila took one sip. One. And quietly pushed the mason jar away.
Bourbon — ever the gentleman — was more polite about it. He semi-finished his out of sheer stubbornness and the faint hope that it might improve.
It did not improve.
If you are thirsty for a sweet soda with a splash of something vaguely tequila-adjacent served in a mason jar, this is absolutely your place. If you are looking for a margarita — any margarita — keep walking.
Here's our honest advice: go to the Irish Cottage Inn. Order a Guinness. Order the fish and chips. Have a wonderful time.
Just don't order the margarita.
